Tales From Wilderland (Don't Leave the Path) question

In Don't Leave the Path are the companions traveling by boat for the beginning journey? It wasn't clear to me while browsing it before work.
Also, it appears they will travel through hard terrain and severe terrain. Would you only make the company perform Corruption tests while in the severe terrain of Mirkwood or also while in the hard terrain?

IIRC they travel on the elf-rafts for a short while. Regarding Corruption tests, you only do them in blighted places, so I guess it's up to you to decide whether the long marshes are blighted. I only made them roll for corruption inside Mirkwood.

Upstream or downstream? From what I can see it appears the Journey is upstream. I ran the whole thing through the online Journey Calculator and this is what I got:
The companions travel 50 miles by river, going upstream, over Hard terrain, through shadow lands in the summer. The journey takes 14 days. Each companion must make 3 Fatigue tests at TN 18. If the journey takes the companions into blighted lands, each must make a Corruption test once a day at TN 14.
Does this look correct to you all? Is this correct for this Journey? Have any of you actually run this adventure yet?
I'm also confused by the adventure because at the beginning of the Journey out from the Elvenking's Halls it states Baldo leaves the Company to themselves then shortly after the Journey starts he is with them again with no explanation.

Looking at the adventure, the party walks part of the way before joining the Elves on rafts. It also says it takes "several days", though that could mean anything really. I definitely feel like 14 days is too long though.
Regarding your other question, where does it state Baldor leaves the company? I can't find it

Look at pg 10 right at Part 3 The Long Road. In that first paragraph, the last 2 sentences. Then go have a look at pg 14 Part 4 Castle of the Spiders under Baldor's Error. He is with them again suddenly and makes a mistake but there is no explanation anywhere how or anything that he is back with them again.

Looking in my copy it says that Lindar the elf leaves the company, not Baldor

They make that part of their journey upstream.

So how long are we to say it takes the companions to get to the Elvenking's Halls from Esgaroth upstream most of the way? If you do the 5 hexes upstream in hard terrain it comes out to 14 days! Or are we supposed to not take into account the Journey rules for this section of the adventure?

Magical elven rafts maybe? I think I always assumed the journey directly between the Elven King's Halls and Esgaroth was easier going than traversing the surrounding area, so I shortened it. I think the main issue is that in all the examples in the LM's book the journey distances and times are broken down, whereas for this adventure the closest we get to that is "the journey takes several days" which doesn't help much

It is a known fact that distance varies in miles depending on the needs of the story. No biggie about that
And elven rafts teleport, a well known fact as well
Center in the story, not the numbers. You can always say that since the elves sing and make the travel pleasant, you have no corruption problems, and time seems to fly for the characters.
Cheers,
