Re: Coming next for The One Ring™
I suspect that the team has been busy getting the refreshed core rules lined up for the printer so that they can have them back in time for Gencon.
The date offered for Rivendell was Summer 2014 which probably lasts until the end of September in publishing industry 'speak'. I'm sure that the team will post here with a 'pre-order available' message when they've sent the file off to the printer.
The C7 store site says hard copies are expected in April and it's only mid May. However there have been several posts (Andrew's April 11 one for example) that tells enquiring customers that the books are on a boat from China. There are also posts from C7 telling customers that C7 cannot control customs officials or even the rate at which the boat crosses the Pacific. I'm sure that once that container with the books has cleared customs and is in the US warehouse C7 will tell you that information. After all it isn't in their interest to keep such information secret.

Ah, so the schedule has indeed been changed. The ETA for the print version of DoM is listed as June (it was April until recently).

I wan't suggesting conspriacy. I was asking if we needed to adapt to further changes of the release schedule. I'm wondering if I will have a copy of the Rivendell book sometime this summer or if I will be still be looking for it while I am over in the UK on vacation in mid Sept.

Yup - as soon as we had a further written confirmation of the 2.5 tons of Darkenings on the ship we were able to update the release schedule to reflect the "Anticipated June" timing. This includes time for the shipment to clear customs, be transported to our US warehouse, be checked in there, and then head out to pre-order customers and retailers.
This has absolutely no effect whatsoever on any other title.
There has been no notification of Rivendell being ready for pre-order soon, you are correct. We will of course let you know when we reach that point. You'll doubtless have noticed that the core manual is ahead of Rivendell in the release schedule.

I did and have to say I'm scratching my head on that point. Rivendell has been hyped pretty much since late last year (at least), and has now been supplanted by the core book revision. I find that strange. But, hay! As long as I am able to read Rivendell while on my trip in sept (or over the summer sometime) I'll be content.Jon Hodgson wrote: You'll doubtless have noticed that the core manual is ahead of Rivendell in the release schedule.
Overall I will probably order the revision, but I would much prefer more setting info first.

I think there's palettes and cartons in there too, so don't forget to figure those in.Elfcrusher wrote:Sales data!Jon Hodgson wrote:...the 2.5 tons of Darkenings on the ship...

Hey, when the PDFs become available is there still time to make edits to the physical books? In other words, is it worth looking for typos or other errors? Or is it already too late?

Re: Coming next for The One Ring™
There's usually time if you're quick. There's a week or so post-PDF release where we can make corrections whilst the printer is still doing prep.
Once they're on the ship it's too late. The captain usually hates having to stop steering the ship to go down into the hold with a biro to make corrections.

Got it. I'll set aside some time for careful reading as soon as the PDF comes out.Jon Hodgson wrote:There's usually time if you're quick. There's a week or so post-PDF release where we can make corrections whilst the printer is still doing prep.

Probably futile, but I'll still hope that pre-ordered copies will start to enter the mail system by the end of May.Jon Hodgson wrote:Yup - as soon as we had a further written confirmation of the 2.5 tons of Darkenings on the ship we were able to update the release schedule to reflect the "Anticipated June" timing.
