He was still alive when we last met him (which was during a spirit quest in the misty mountains a few years before the end).
As I mentioned earlier our company were pretty convinced we were all going to die in Dol Guldur. One upshot of this was when we tried to recruit allies the Beorning in our party refused to ask Beorn. He did not want to be responsible for the death of so many of his people. This meant the Beornings were about the only people not represented in the final battle so I guess that also means they were the least damaged going forward.
We did lose a friend on the spirit quest with Beorn. Actually he had been lost to a Hope vs Shadow death spiral a few years before when he had been infected with the spirit of the werewolf of Mirkwood. But the LM brought him back as a NPC for the spirit quest so we got to say a final goodbye.
The same quest marked the begining of the end of my attempt to create a magic weapon. I had a sword, named Dolingur the singing death, which had the virtues Fell, Grevious and Keen and also had a Keening Bg stone built into the hilt. Finally a Artificer of Eregion had Enchanted the blade. I had to give up the Keening Bog stone as a offering to try and get past a mountain spirit during the quest with Beorn. Then before we headed to Dol Guldur I returned the sword to my people so it could protect my family, and the rest of Lake Town, rather than being lost in southern Mirkwood.
