And I throught Irimë was minor nobility...

First Age det al, possibly form Aman, yes. And then I found this:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daughters_of_Finw%C3%AB
Findis and Írimë (or Íriën) are fictional characters from J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth legendarium, featured in The Peoples of Middle-earth. They were Elves, daughters of Finwë, king of the Noldor, and Indis; sisters of Fingolfin and Finarfin and half-sisters of Fëanor. Findis was the first child of Finwë and Indis, and Írimë was the third. Little is known about them except that Findis was "more like her mother" and that she stayed with Indis and Finarfin in Valinor, while Írimë went to Middle-earth with Fingolfin. Findis is a combination of her parents' names. Irimë's mother-name was Lalwendë or in shortened form Lalwen, and by this name she was generally known. This name was not changed in Beleriand because it already fit the style of Sindarin, though the true Sindarin form would have been Gladhwen.

Findis apparently still dwells in Aman. Írimë's fate is unknown, but she may have been slain or returned to Valinor after the War of Wrath. Neither appears in the published Silmarillion.

Yes, i remember finding this out on Tolkien Gateway when I was running Tales from Wilderland. But of course she's not only not in the published Silmarillion, she's also not in The Hobbit or The Lord of the Rings, so Cubicle 7 wouldn't have the rights to use her. So the Irimë in TfW must be a different character with the same name. (Does Tolkien's Irimë even exist in the "final" version of his world?)

I think from memory that Irimë in TfW actually says she's from the House of Finarfin (or something like that) which would also seem odd if she's actually his elder sister! When I ran it I just kept any mention of her family vague. But of course in your game you can decide that she is indeed that Irimë, which might cause some jaw-dropping if there are any lore-wise elves in the fellowship... :D

My group jokingly decided the reason she warns the heroes against Galadriel is they went to high school together and Galadriel was the popular girl who dated the quarterback and teased Irimë about her poetry. :D

Actually Irimë is Galadriel's aunt.

I always felt sorry for Elrond for having Galadriel as a mother in law...

I did too! Talk about having a roughy time with the inlaws and the various comparisons that necessarily were made. Arwen seems to spend a fair bit of time at Grandma’s house too and I always wondered if that created tension.

The text states that she is of the House of Gil-Galad. Later Legolas introduces her as of the House of Finwe.

I totally missed that reference or interpreted it as her being a really minor relative, not the damn DAUGHTER of Finwe

Ah right, well as I said I was going by my memory (which as it turns out was a bit fuzzy!) -- it was the "House of Gil-Galad" bit I was thinking of. In fact she's his great-great aunt! I hadn't noticed that Legolas said something different, though. Very cool!
