What do you hope to see in future releases?
Re: What do you hope to see in future releases?
Yes, an Orc shot Balin from behind a stone when he went to look into the Mirrormere.
An attack (or attacks) on Sauron's supply lines would be pretty wild. I don't suspect the players would have much of a chance of long-term survival, but they might be able to pull it off for a bit. It certainly would challenge them & be fun for the LM to write-up.

Ruining Sauron's supply lines would definitely be one of those 'high level adventures' for characters that have maxed out stats and don't know what to do with them. Such a team might be able to ruin Sauron's food production and maybe a third of them will make it back to tell the tale.

I'll buy anything coming out for The One Ring, this being my favorite rpg and all. That said, I'm very happy with the C7 made a rpg that steared clear of the major players in the story (Aragorn, Frodo, Bilbo). True, the Wizards appear from time to time, and other characters from the books may play their roles, but the beauty of The One Ring is that the player characters are the main heroes in the story. So please, please do not tangle The One Ring up into the main story in the Lord of the Rings. I would hate to see adventures where Companions "help" Frodo or Aragorn on their own quests.
So what releases would I hope for? More region books, perhaps, but ones that stay true to the mood and feel of JRR Tolkiens books. What I really liked about Tales from Wilderland and Darkening of Mirkwood is that many of the stories had the feel of scenes from the Hobbit or Lord of the Rings without becoming those scenes. I'm not sure about you guys, but I wouldn't like to run an adventure where the Companions help Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli defend Helm's Deep agains the Saruman's Uruk-hai.
The current release scheduel looks amazing. Not sure what else I would ask for, but a book on Moria would be interesting IF it would make sense in the campaign. For example, a Moria-book that is also a campaign where the Companions join Balins expedition would be fantastic. A campaign where the Companions go into Moria looking for the Fellowship of the Ring would not.
As mentioned, books on different regions would be great. The Shire and Bree-land would be excellent, of course.

Tolkien states in RotK that there are large, slave-tended fields around Nurnen in southeast Mordor.Angelalex242 wrote:Actually, I think Balin got killed by plain old orcs. Durin's Bane didn't have to come out to play personally.
As for Mordor...what do orcs eat, anyway? Is it possible to ruin Sauron's supply lines? He can't possibly have that fertile fields in Mordor to feed those orcs...
Doesn't mean there aren't other Enemy supply lines PCs can't go after.
Re: What do you hope to see in future releases?
I want to see different weapons and different called shot abilities for player characters. I think adding hammers and mauls that provide a "stun" for the remainder of the round would be nice. The stun would either prevent them from changing stances or lower their parry. Also adding different non-weapon specific called shots like tripping or lowering parry for the round.
Other than that I would like to see way more Virtues and Valor upgrades, they need to diversify the options available to keep everyone on different paths after 40+ experience.

I agree that the called shot system could have more options add to it.
Re: What do you hope to see in future releases?
I'm more into cinematic action in rpgs, so I would love to see some way that allows characters to increase their Parry and attack more than one foe in a single round. I think a couple of quick, one-sentence Virtues could cover these quite well, without using a lot of space to write up new rules.

I want to know what happened to the two "blue" Wizards.
I'd love to see a supplement that dealt with some lands to the East, and includes the two mysterious Istari. I like the idea that one of them fell to Shadow, and the other went "underground" but stayed true to his mission.
"Blah blah blah....outside the C7 license...blah blah blah." Whatever. A guy's gotta dream.

Do we actually know stuff about C7's licence, or is it conjecture?

IANAL but we generally know what licence M-eE have from looking at several years of litigation. That is, the Professor sold the rights to use material published in the Hobbit and LoTR either to pay his US tax bill or to finance his children's education (reports and speculation vary). All material published subsequent to his death by the Tolkien Estate i.e. Christopher, is not covered so HoMe, Silmarillion etc. is out-of-bounds. I believe that the Tolkien Estate (his surviving children and a lawyer) restrict access to unpublished material to serious, academic, scholars and will not authorise any commercialisation of the later works and unpublished material.
