The thread was starting to get to the 'my argument is better than your argument' with overtones of 'I know better than you about travelling in boats' which had nothing to do with the original thread. Even the OP mentioned his thread being derailed. This is why I suggested that you start your own thread if you want to argue about boating and travel.

Jon is pretty easy going here, but will intervene with a 'suggestion' to keep things on course and the tone light when necessary. Please don't make him take time out from his real job to 'have a quiet word' about being nice.

Hold up now. Instead of jumping in with your dismissive straw man remark towards aramis, shouldn't you have started your own thread to posit how aramis's anecdotal canoe trip has little to do with medieval water travel?

Before you interjected with your ‘straw man’ comment, there was (and still is) a friendly discussion between two people about Travel and boating. I think we can all do without the threats and finger waggin’.

My post has nothing to do with aramis' comment and everything to do with the extremely aggressive tone that was starting to get noticed in the thread. Those wishing to continue their 'discussion' about travel and boats are free to take it to a new thread and leave this one for discussion about the Combat simulator.
