Of course, we all know that Frodo started out as Bingo Baggins.

It's also amazing that "Dingle Berry" didn't find it's way into the Hobbit codex of names.

Nice job, it reminds me of the old TSR "Dwarves of Rockhome" sourcebook, which included a table to create darven names by adding up a prefix and a suffix. That produced some hilarious results too, starting with having a dwarf called Morto (which is the Italian for "Dead").
Now all we need are some female dwarf names.![Wink ;)](images/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif)

In 15 years of game mastering, I've never, never, NEVER seen a female dwarf character among my (many) players ![Razz :P](images/smilies/icon_razz.gif)

I have one at my table. Her name doesn't sound very dwarfish. But then again, we don't know of any female dwarf name besides Dis, I believe.

I got a few, not many, but definitely enough to be remebered. I even got one lady once who only played female dwarves.Michebugio wrote:In 15 years of game mastering, I've never, never, NEVER seen a female dwarf character among my (many) players

One of the players in our AD&D campaign has a female dwarf naemd Maude; I should kid her that her character's name should be pronounced Maw-ood-eh.Michebugio wrote:In 15 years of game mastering, I've never, never, NEVER seen a female dwarf character among my (many) players
I have a dwarven cleric named Furd who was cursed to become a lady-dwarf. He hasn't given up on breaking the curse, but in the mean time he has been making the best of it and is calling himself (herself?) Furda.
Just for fun, here is a dwarven magical item from Dwarves (1982, Mayfair Games) an old RoleAids product:
Ring of Giving
This Ring, when worn, appears to be the type of ring most desired by the wearer (similar to a Ring of Delusion), but it is, in effect, a trap for the greedy. Once placed upon the finger of a Dwarf, this ring caused the character to have overwhelming fits of generousity. There is a 15% chance each day that the wearer will give away half of all the gold and jewels he possesses. This ring has no noticable effect on races other than Dwarves.
"Far, far below the deepest delvings of the Dwarves, the world is gnawed by nameless things. Even Sauron knows them not. They are older than he."
