In another thread we got sidetracked into listing differences between the mechanics for PCs and everything else and I offered to collate material into a pdf to provide a community resource.

So here's the first few items;

Code: Select all

Rule...........................PC..................................NPC/Adversary

Can Choose Combat Stances......Yes.................................No
Wearied........................When End <= Enc + Fatigue...........When Hate/Hope = 0
Uses Encumbrance Rules..........Yes................................No
Hope/Hate Adds Attribute to Skill..Yes.............................Per Skill Group
Attributes:....................3 distinct..........................1 value indicating all
Called Shots:..................declared............................retro-fitted based on dice
Wounds.........................2 needed to go unconscious..........1 wound kills most adversaries.
Eye of Sauron icon/rune........bad for Heroes......................Good for Adversaries.
Gandalf icon/rune..............good for Heroes.....................Bad for Adversaries.

Please add items to the list that may have confused you when running a game so that we can help others finding things a bit unclear.

Of course:

PCs: incapacitated with 2 Wounds; Foes: dead or incapacitated with only 1 Wound, except if having Great Size.

Don't forget that most published named Loremaster characters are not treated as adversaries. You've got:
  • Player-characters
  • Non-player characters with descriptions only
  • Non-player characters with basic stats (Attribute level, specialties, distinctive features, relevant skills, endurance)
  • Adversaries

How about the most obvious one: that adversaries treat the Eye of Sauron as a good thing.

There are also a few NPCs with full combat stats, so far we have seen Beorn's in the LM's guide.

The NPC's with full stats are probably limited to Named Loremaster characters and fall into that limbo between PC's and the third spearman in the chorus line. I'll be sure to make it clear there are multiple levels of NPC with varying levels of complexity.
