Events for Holdings

So in my quest to have Standing, Treasure and Standard of Living work in a way that pleases me and matches up to the source material I'm working on my own variation of the Holding rules.

Mechanically speaking, the rules are changing quite a bit... But that's not the area I'm struggling with right now. I'm wanting to have a list of good events (for when you roll a Gandalf) and bad events (for a Sauron). For example, a Sauron on the bad events that means the death of a family member.

Suggestions for good and bad stuff?

I would suggest that a quick review of things dealing with a manor in Pendragon might provide some assistance as might a review of material for Harn as that's very good on reality and agriculture in a FRPG.

That's what I've done for my own Holding rules that I wrote a summary of in a thread here a couple of days ago - heavily using Pendragon as a source of inspiration and ideas.

I just picked up the Book of Estates for Pendragon and plan on using that as inspiration for the Holding rules. Rich, would you mind pointing me to the thread containing your summary? I missed that one and it would probably help me a great deal.

It was the thread where you asked about Holdings and their ratings. I posted a summary of what I'd do with them and then started putting stuff together after I'd afterwards.

Zedturtle, here are some ideas from Gareth Hanrahan from the thread, Holdings and Minimum Scores. My question was what happens if a player-hero's Standing is reduced below the Minimum Score required for his Holding but these also could be used for bad events when an EYE is rolled:
I'd say he keeps the Holding, but should face regular problems until he gets his standing back up.
Stuff like:
[*]Local rivals try to take the Holding
[*]Accusations of being a miser
[*]Tensions with local rulers, if any
[*]Bandit attacks, as his neighbours won't support him
[*]Dwindling of the Holding itself, unless the character takes action during the Adventuring Phase

I think that the A Song of Ice and Fire RPG by Green Ronin might be a good inspiration for Holding based events.

AsoIaF - Probably not as I had a look at that before posting my suggestions above and found very little real information, mostly results of good or bad Status die rolls expressed as Loss or Gain synonyms.

Thanks to all, yes Pendragon will definitely be an inspiration as is your thread Beckett and RichH's suggestions within.
