I've pulled the audio files from several of the Elder Scrolls games as well as World of Warcraft. Not the official soundtracks, but the in game mod music. I then sorted those files into types/moods. After that I had randomized playlists for zones in my play sessions.
I also hit youtube for nature sound recordings (rivers/thunder/wind in trees/etc). I picked nice long ones, several over an hour long and downloaded them for offline use. I used a video converter to pull the audio streams out of them, and use those for zone ambiance.
During sessions I keep a laptop with high quality speakers next to me and I use two different audio players to switch smoothly between zone music/ambiance. It's worked quite well and with the nice long playlists it takes very little thought to be able to get the right feeling for the right moments.
Movie (and game for that matter) soundtracks tend to be to up and down for my play sessions. I don't like to not be in control of the tone/mood of the music that's running with my games.

It might be too specific for your tastes, but I would highly recommend the Tolkien Ensemble. Not all the songs are very atmospheric, as they are adaptations of the songs/poems from the books, but they could be used to good effect.
The full deal was just released on the
U.S. iTunes store this year and much of it is available on
YouTube.

Me too. At least Draco had 6 limbs, unlike certain other dragons of late.
