James, I think the jounreyometer works by the way I understand journey rules. You can travel 20 miles per day, and you're not supposed to count the first hex. So the first two hexes are traveled on Jan 1, and you reach the 3rd/4th hex Jan 2, and the 5th/6th on Jan 3. This seems to match up with your screenshot.

I see what you're saying Morgoth and Elfcrusher. My brain is just wired differently I think. I understand that by choosing "Skip First Cell" that the Travel Distance will be accurate according to RAW. And now I see that the dates are labeling the actual days of travelling and NOT the departure points.

So sorry for all the confusion! Now that I understand it, I prefer what you have done!

This is an awesome app. It will really come in handy during my next gaming session. I think the players will like it very much.

One thing I have noticed is that the Long Marshes are labelled as Long Marches. You may have done a copy and paste from the Nether Marches or just been tired when you typed the data in.

Use a program like File Juicer to extract the images from a legally obtained PDF copy.

The size of the original pdf map on my PC is 22.00 x 17.00 in, I used Zamcar? (as recommended) to convert it to a jpg which is 6600 x 5100 pixels.

I am still having this problem that it doesn't recognise where I am clicking, so do I need to save the jpg map to a new size first??? (as you suggested is perhaps the problem here)

@Robin, I found that having jpg'd the map I had to reduce it to about 55% to make the hex sizes match and then carved a bit off the top and LHS to make the locations match.

Having loaded the map I clicked on the index (Beorn's House) and saw where it landed and adjusted the clipping to get the map and hex indicator to match up.

I used this web to convert (http://pdf2jpg.net/).
The quality had to be Good. With Excellent the map became too big.

There's a difference between quality and thus the size of the file in MB and the size of the displayed file in pixels. If the size of the map i.e. the 11x17, doesn't match what the app expects then the hex sizes are bigger than the hexes as displayed by the app. Using a different compression rate - the quality mentioned above will not affect the literal size of the map merely the file size.

Resizing the map down to a different number of pixels in height and width allows the map and the displayed hex symbology to match and the journey calculator to work properly.

Hmm...I didn't resize it. I just saved it out as a .jpg.

Sorry this part is causing people headaches; I will work on finding a permanent solution. Maybe with Valarian's help.

The 55% idea worked, just need to crop now with Microsoft Picture Manager - out of curiosity how much pixels did you have to crop from LHS & top (I think I have the same problem that you had) - shows Beorns House about 3 hexes out to the left and up - Dale is worse off ( about 3 hexes out up but 6 hexes to the left)??
