Nah, I think this is one of Elfcrusher's bluffs. Otherwise, his work would be unbelievable.
Not human at all.

Remember to shout at him "Klaatu barada nikto" when he threatens to destoy the Earth.

Elfcrusher wrote:Ok, I need some feedback from those of you using (or planning to use) the Journeyometer:

1) It's been bothering me since the beginning that some hexes seem evenly spit between two (or more) regions; which region they should be depends on the route you're using. Example: if you're traveling up the west side of the Dusky River you're unlikely to cross over to the east side for a single hex, even if that is the straightest route. As it is now each hex only belongs to one region, which means some routes counterintuitively jump back and forth across borders.

The solution I'm contemplating is to mark those hexes in the database as belonging to several regions. When calculating a journey it will consider those hexes as belonging to the same region as the adjacent cells. If the adjacent cells are different it will pick the "safest" region. (E.g. it will assume you're going to travel in Western Eaves instead of Heart of Mirkwood, given the choice.) There might be some edge cases where it has you hopping back and forth across a river.
I think your solution should be right. There are some times when the company wants to travel under the cover of Mirkwood, even if it's more difficult to travel. That should be addressed if, as you say, the program considers the adjacent cells.
The other problem, when the company wants to border Mirkwood (or any other place) in their journey but doesn't want to go in, and the program detects one cell inside Mirkwood (thus adding to the lenght of the journey, the number of Fatigue tests, their difficulty,...), should also be addressed by considering the "frontier cells" as two regions and picking the safest one in case the above solution doesn't apply.

In my tests with the Journeyometer, I ended up using the LMs map to show the players the route. It didn't make sense to me that they entered marshes, Mirkwood, high mountains, etc unwillingly just because the Adventurer's Map didn't show the exact grid where the terrain changes.

As for the roads, I get your general meaning, but I can't give you any better advice than what you say. In fact, there are some roads/paths (The Elven Path/The Old Forest Road) that most people use in different ways.

200ppi is still too small a size to work - still need to resize the picture to be larger, as the hexes are about 1/3 the size required. Resize to what??
Keep up the great work! :D

Robin, make sure your picture is actually being resized to 200 ppi. That's what happened to me. I thought I was changing the size, but it wasn't saving. So, I kept uploading a smaller size thinking there was something wrong with 200 ppi. But then I discovered my error and lo and behold - 200 ppi worked perfectly.

So, here's what I did exactly:

I opened the PDF (sent from C7) in Preview (on a Mac).
I chose Save As and changed the format to JPEG.
I opened the JPEG in Preview.
I went to Tools and chose Adjust Size.
I changed the ppi from 150 to 200 and made sure everything was set.
I Saved the image and reopened it to check that it was still 200 ppi.
Then, I uploaded the image to Journeyometer and it was perfect!

Before that, I was skipping the Save step thinking it automatically Saved.

Robin,

If you continue to have problems PM me and I'll help you work through it.

UPDATE: The image functionality is almost there. It's really cool. Couple bugs to fix still.

Well, Images are working. I pushed it to production. Please test it out for me. (It's not prettified yet...I want to get the functionality nailed then I'll make it look nice.)

1) Load Wilderland.
2) Go to the "Art" tab in the control panel.
3) Click on the hex with Woodland Hall. You should see one image appear under the "Local Images" heading. Click on that image to enlarge.
4) Now click the "Regional Images" heading.
5) Click anywhere in Western Mirkwood. You should see two images appear.

If anybody wants to test out adding more images (in the Add Image section) PM me with username & password of choice and I'll create credentials for you. (Please don't send me your 'regular' password; I don't want to know it.)

Don't go crazy adding content until I give the all clear; I'd hate to have to roll the database back and lose your work.

I did a different process because I cannot save PDF's as JPG, so what I did:

Copy to Clipboard
Open Paint
Paste
Save as JPG
Open Photoshop
Open image
Resize to 200ppi

That is the only way (that I am aware of) that I can convert the PDF's. Paint doesn't allow resolution edits, only Photoshop does (so that's why I have to use Photoshop as well!).

I only need to use the Paint step to resize so would prefer to just resize the picture to the correct size??

Oh, the problem with that approach is that it copies at the current resolution. Make sure you are viewing the PDF at full size (it will be bigger than the window) before you copy it.

You might try using a free online PDF to JPG converter like Zamzar (www.zamzar.com) or something. Then resize it to 200 ppi in Photoshop.

I used this:
http://pdf2jpg.net/

where you can select the quality of the Jpeg. It doesn't have the option of 200dpi, but it does have the 150dpi one.
