I've been doing quite a bit a testing, and it looks very good!

I did notice one odd thing. There were situations where I added an extra hex (or two) to a route and it made the journey easier. It's quicker to show to:

So this has two travel rolls TN 14. (80 miles 6 days)

This is the same exact route, except it 10 miles longer (one extra hex). 2 Travel rolls, but one at TN14 and one at TN 12. (90 miles 7 days). You actually can add several hexes with the same result.

I don't think it really matters much, but you wanted people to test it. So far that was the only odd thing I found.

Given the awesome stuff you've come out with so far, I'm can't wait to find out what this is!

Thanks, Morgoth, that's super helpful, especially to include the image so that I can replicate.

I'll take a look, but first the latest:

Because timelines and the Tale of Years is so central to the game, I wanted to give LMs a tool to keep track of dates automatically.

So instead of picking the season you're traveling in, you pick the start date. The algorithm computes the date on a cell-by-cell basis, adjusting for season if you change seasons. It then prints the dates on the cells, so you know when the party arrives where.

Image

This is probably buggy; it was stupidly complicated and made my brain hurt. (I ended up disabling drag-select along the way; you have to shift-click one cell at a time now.) So please beat on it and tell me where it breaks.

It still has a tendency to suddenly flip directions while you're adding cells; I'll work on fixing that. Oh and I increased the opacity of selected cells to make it easier to read the dates but I think it's kind of harsh looking now. I'll work on finding a nice aesthetic.

I would really like to try this app out, but I am having trouble uploading the map file. Here is a pic of the error I am getting every time:

Image

This should be very simple. I tried the map in JPEG and PNG formats and I get the same error. What am I doing wrong?

Not sure, James. Tried to replicate by loading the wrong images but no luck yet. I'll keep poking around. Sorry.

Oh, right....I made absolutely no attempt to support IE, so if that's your browser I would not be surprised if it doesn't work.

Doh! Yeah, of course it does.

Just tested on Safari and it works fine. So I'm stumped...for now.

I tried again today. No matter what kind of picture I try to upload, I get that same error. So, I'm not sure what is happening. I wonder if there is a setting in Safari that I need to change. Ugh! I really want to try this. Maybe I'll download Google Chrome and try it on that.

Computer techs? Help! Study that error picture and tell us what it means.
