Artefacts of interest to TOR LMs.
Thought I'd start a thread to collect things I (and others, feel free to join in) might find online that LMs might make use of.
Today is a beautiful recreation of an early medieval sickle from the mighty Thorkil. A magical treasure if ever I saw one!:

There's also thousands of photos that I've collected when researching TOR artwork over here (Posted before, but won't hurt to post it again: http://www.pinterest.com/jonnyhodgsonart/

Wow
That sickle is Beautiful!
Perfect as a small weapon for my players when they choose a suitable reward, or maybe a single valuable loot item.
Or perhaps found in the dirt after they have cleared a troll Cave, at least, they who remain alive....![Twisted Evil ](images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif)

I also want to add that I'm crazy about your style, Hodgson. Especially landscapes.
I played Hobbit Tales with a friend of mine and he goes, 'I think I follow this artist on Deviantart'. Sure enough it was you. He'd never played a Cubicle 7 game but he was very impressed with your stuff.

Thanks for the kind words! Unexpected!
I'm pondering this sickle as some kind of important heirloom or gift from another culture, that Woodmen farmers traditionally use to cut the first and last hanks (is that the right word for a fist full of corn stalks you cut with a sickle?) of their crops to ensure a good harvest. Which is of course then stolen, misplaced, cursed...
Or something similar which could be useful to a Player Hero holding.

I like that better than trying to make a weapon out of it.

Oh it's be cool if there was a ban on it ever being used to draw blood. And then of course in the hear of a moment was used to do so. Possibly in an act of self defence to make it interesting.

I've been thinking about trying my hand at a fan Con/Intro scenario. Setting it at a harvest festival was already in my mind (such a setup can explain heroes of other cultures taking in the sights of the "big day") and this would make a perfect macguffin... Any objection to me stealing this idea?Jon Hodgson wrote:Thanks for the kind words! Unexpected!

Not at all - tis what the thread is for. Plus I probably won't get time to do more than ponder, so by all means take it and run with it!

That sickle is gorgeous!
