I think he’s working with the publisher of the games. Often when you buy a hardcopy of a game from the shop of the publisher, they give away free PDFs.
Cubicle 7 does so. When pre-ordering Hearts of the Wild, for example, you get a free PDF. But shipping is often quite expensive when ordering from another country, so I buy locally.
I dont’s know if this works when I pre-order Hearts of the Wild in Germany, but when I bought TOR, there was such a deal.

That sounds pretty fishy.
It is a bit strange, but not but so strange...
I am a retailer and have an agreement with Bits N Mortar that allows me to provide a PDF copy with every physical copy I sell. I can provide the PDF via flash drive (e.g., if the customer has one at the time of the sale)/CD-ROM/DVD-ROM/some other physical media, via me e-mailing the customer the file, or I can provide a link to directly download the file. The latter would
usually be by providing the direct link to Bits N Mortar, but I suppose putting it on dropbox might be easier and/or quicker for the retailer. It is not the way I would choose to do distribute the link as it could be used by anyone the customer cared to share the link with...the direct link I mentioned is a specific generated code (I think)...the PDF is not watermarked, though. Too, I am not aware that the Bits N Mortar link expires after being used.
Hope this helps.

That Bits’n’Mortar thing rings a bell. Might have been this.
Anyway, does anyone know if Cubicle 7 is willing to give updated PDFs for those who already got the old PDFs?

Presumably getting an updated PDF would be subject to the same rules as getting any pdf from C7 if you did not buy the books from them. A copy/scan of the receipt sent by email to them is usually the method of getting the PDF but that is an extension of the Bits and Mortar program which requires you to have bought the product from a dealer that sells at close to list price (a 10 per cent discount max is what I believe).
As it is the only difference is IIRC the replacement of one word each in the two books, Adventurers Guide from Adventurers Book and Loremasters Guide from Loremasters Book, hardly worth going to all the trouble of finding a receipt from a couple of years back.

Any PDFs we supplied came via rpgnow/drivethru rpg - if you log into your account there you can download updated versions.

Thanks! I have the updated PDFs now and the only change I have found is the renaming of Loremaster’s & Adventurer’s Book to Guide.
I have neither seen any of the known errata nor any re-structurings or additions.

A bit strange just renaming the books' titles
Can we expect the errata/clarifications to be updated in the pdfs any time soon?

I suspect that the name changes have something to do with the licence from M-e E and the limitation of the licence to Hobbit/LOTR and the publication of a game rather than a book or electronic game.
