Back on target...
Deadly Archery is kind of nerfed to begin with. Adding your heart to your presumably favored body is great and all...except heart is elves' weak stat. If only it added wits instead of heart...
Maybe it should be switched to roll the feat die twice and keep the better. They'd get more use out of that and it wouldn't take hope anymore.
Or hell, if we're using Legolas as an example, we might even switch it to, "Great and extraordinary successes become piercing blows", like a ranged King's Blade.

Re: Deadly archery and Stinging Arrow vs Fair Shot
Our Hobbit is currently the best fighter in the group, and he isn't even a warrior build. It seems odd when the Dwarf gets pounded and the Hobbit runs behind and stabs for the kill.
Deadly Archery hardly seems worth paying a point of Hope for when Hobbits get to rerolled the Feat Die for free. Especially if that "roll twice and take the best roll" means I can ignore an Eye 23 out of 24 times.

I wish these rule examples came under close inspection for the new rule book.

What about this?
King’s Blade (short sword)
At times, country Hobbits find ancient swords inside fallen mounds, amid tilled fields or washed ashore along a watercourse. Unable to discover their precise origin, they call them simply ‘King’s blades.’
If you inflict a piercing blow on an attack using a King’s blade, the target rolls the Feat dice twice on his Protection Test and picks up the lowest result.
