Actually, a prolonged rest is defined on p10 of the clarifications doc (or p131 of the revised edition): "Player-heroes recover a number of Endurance points for every prolonged rest they enjoy every day
(usually, a night’s sleep)."
I think that's fairly clear, although as with most things it's up to the LM to make the final call.

That's not really a definition, more an aside or afterthought. For some things that have been contentious or at least not clearly understood it might have been prudent to make some of these terms clearly stated and defined.

There is an 'of' in the text above that I'm fairly sure is supposed to 'or' as well.
I think prolonged rest is fine as a (self-)definition; otherwise you get into silliness of things like "we rest for exactly six hours! No more!" "In the pouring rain, on a mountainside?" "The rules say six hours, no other requirements"
Jacob Rodgers, occasional nitwit.
This space intentionally blank.

Ah, that's what I was missing. The "per day" part is hidden in the definition of prolonged rest.

I'm with Zedturtle - I think it provides enough of a steer to the Loremaster without constraining him to adjudicate as he sees fit.
