[Adventure] Two adventures for TOR

Post by Eclipse » Mon Jul 01, 2013 12:57 pm

Hi,

I posted these on the old forums some time ago, but have not found the time to re-post them here yet. Both adventures should be about one session, depending on group and playing style.

The first one is Blood in the Waters, an introductory adventure written to establish a new fellowship and showcase TOR for new players:

Blood in the Waters

Blood in the Waters (printer-friendly)

The second one is Of Ghosts and Goblins, a somewhat light-hearted side-trek that can be inserted in any campaign:

Of Ghosts and Goblins

Of Ghosts and Gobline (printer-friendly)

I do hope they will prove useful to some.

Thank you very much for the home brewing stuff, especially for the “Blood in the Waters”! While my one group is going thru the fan created scenarios, the other is playing the Tales...

We played the “Blood...” as a starter adventure in the spring of 2946. It was pretty good fun. I loved to read them describing how shocked and humble their PCs felt with the cheers of the crowds welcoming them as heroes in Dale. “Anyone in their shoes would do the same after all!” They didn't get any patrons but Gandalf asked them to meet Gloin to start fan modified “Marsh Bell” (They accepted the task).

Rigurz entered the eves of Northern Mirkwood where he had found a warband of marauding orcs and convinced them to trouble the Elf Path. The scouts of those marauders attacked later my other group when some stayed with Belgo in the forest clearing while the rest went after robbed of his memories Baldor. Those orcs will be later used in the beginning of "Those Who Tarry…". Rigurz with the mysterious map was on his way to Misty Mountains. He had a chuckle to learn in Goblin Town that his bully from teenage years – Ubhurtz was killed at the battle of Ring Fort by “published adventures group”.

The “fan material group” has just arrived in the ruins in the Long Marshes after they blinded the old Troll (poor already wounded fella) and next week they will probably have the mewlips encounter. If they rescue the dwarfs they will most likely enter “To Journey's End and the Eagles' Eyrie” (compliments of Rich H.) and later either the “Dawn comes Early” (if it’s ready to play) or the “Caran Gaur” by Jerome Mitchel, but before they enter any of those adventures I might let them have some fun with “Of Ghosts and Goblins” adapted to the Misty Mountains area.

Thanks for the report and feedback. I had Rigurz disappear, but plan on bringing him back in the near future.

Juggling two groups sounds like fun, but also like a lot of work. Do you plan on having them meet sometime?

They know about each other as we all are playing on the same forum, but I told them that it is totally up to them and the game circumstances. If they are to meet it would be only the outcome of the game. If they are in the same area in the same period of time and it sounds like a good, not railroad idea for them to meet, then yes, they will. I anticipate it can happen while defending some settlement, taking part of the bigger battle or a travel encounter. They are a few little hooks that could be developed in their heroes’ personal background stories and they already made friends with a few same NPCs in Esgaroth so it might be interesting. Also, they will have opportunity to change fellowship from time to time if they choose to do so if heroes of those two groups will make friends (the gamers know each other quite well). I am not going to run over 10PCs in one big group, that’s for sure! :)
