Somebody start a campaign. Quick.
Ok, who's going to man up and start a PbP campaign?

What do you want to play? I've been thinking about it, but I've been waiting to see what Rich was going to do, as he had expressed some interest a couple weeks ago.
Rignuth: Barding Wordweaver Wanderer in Southron Loremaster's game.
Amroth Ol'Hir: High Elf Vengeful Kin Slayer in Zedturtle's game.
Jakk O'Malli: Dwarven Orator Treasure-Hunter in Hermes Serpent's game.

I'd love to play a Ranger, of course, but mostly I want to start exploring Eriador and using some of these new rules. Hobbit or Beorning would also be high on my list.

Well then:
Post here if you are interested with an idea of what kind of character you are interested in playing. I'll look tonight into how to run a campaign on RPOL, which is my preference for using.
Eriador, 3rd age, set....somewhere around the current timeline
Quest to be revealed

Re: Somebody start a campaign. Quick.
I've told Rocmistro about this via other media, but I've been thinking about starting another TOR PbP over at rpg.net. This one would be set in Eriador, but would primarily exist as an a venue for playtesting house rules like my magic stuff and trying other things out (like chunks of Rivendell, your rules ideas, etc.). My thoughts were to actually run a "historical" campaign, using some of the old MERP source material... i.e. set in Eriador when the Witch King is active and wrecking stuff so that you can go fight him and his minions. Since it would be a playtest game, players would have to be okay with possible retcons... i.e. if we find that a rule or spell or item is breaking the game, we will change it.
Again, not an official recruitment, just an idea that I've been having.
Or, you can just sign up with his game that he just advertised whilst I was typing this up.

Zed, are you interested in playing or mostly just Loremastering?

I might play; I was leery of it, but now that the opportunity presents itself, I cannot lightly set it aside...Rocmistro wrote:Zed, are you interested in playing or mostly just Loremastering?
P.S. I know the opportunity has existed before, I really was leery of my abilities as a player... but experiences since then have taught me that mayhap I have some input to give as a player.

Re: Somebody start a campaign. Quick.
I would certainly be interested in playing, seems I am always GM locally.
As for what sort of character, some sort of Man. I think. Maybe a Woodman from Mountain Hall. If Bree-landers were available I would play one of those.

If I do this, I'll just throw out a couple things for anyone who applies to consider:
1. We will move fast. Adventure will be advanced at least every other day if not more frequently. I'm not going to wait around prompting people to post and participate. (Zed, the pace of your game)
2. This will not be a game for TOR novices. You'll be expected to know the mechanics of TOR.
3. Canon-o-meter will be about a 7 on a scale of 1-10. That is to say:
-All official places and characters will exist and I will do my best to accurately portray them, mechanically, per my undrestanding of TOR rules and Middle-earth.
-Big events of Middle-earth history are immune to my (LM) schemery.
-Minor events (or not otherwise explicitly stated events) and/or characters will not be immune to LM schemery.
-That being said, I would/will allow players to change the course of history if their characters become big and tough enough to do so. (But don't expect it to be easy).
