Questions: Rivendell Song mechanics

Right here.Andrew wrote:Inspiration from songs can't take a dice pool over 6 dice.
It says in the rules that a song is added to a company's list of songs; therefore they belong to the company, not the composer. I'm sure he still gets royalties, however.

Re: Questions: Rivendell Song mechanics
On a related note, the Rivendell expansion refers to a "Minstrelsy" trait, vis a vis:
"To compose a song, a hero needs to make a Song roll. The basic difficulty for the roll is severe (TN18), or hard (TN 16) if the composer is writing his song while in Rivendell or possesses the Minstrelsy Trait."
Where is the Minstrelsy Trait introduced as it doesn't seem to be in the main book? I am about to start the DOM campaign and one of my players wants to play an Wood Elf Bard (using the Musical Legacy Background). If I can find where this trait is otherwise referenced I might give him the trait in exchange for something else?
Thanks in advance.

That wasn't question 1. Question 1 is "can song derived bonus dice exceed the 6 die cap"...Andrew wrote:Right here.Andrew wrote:Inspiration from songs can't take a dice pool over 6 dice.

Re: Questions: Rivendell Song mechanics
I would say so, it seems like the Inspiration comes from the song (which can only be sung during an appropriate scene) but can be spent at any later time in the same session.farinal wrote:Can a thematic song for walking for example, sung during the journey, still gives dice for lets say a combat scene in the same adventuring phase?
Does thematic songs also give bonus for other stuff than their themes as long as they were sung while the company was engaged in an activity of it's theme?

Re: Questions: Rivendell Song mechanics
You don't need to give him the Trait, he can just use the Undertaking "Gain New Distinctive Feature or Speciality", as there's no limit to where the new Speciality may come from:Brandiwise wrote: one of my players wants to play an Wood Elf Bard (using the Musical Legacy Background). The new Trait may be chosen from any list of Distinctive
Features or Specialities, or even invented by the player
(who in this case needs the approval of the Loremaster).
