Eastern Eriador Maps

Post by Valarian » Thu Jul 24, 2014 11:11 am

These are great, and I can now replace my own version with the official travel zoning when my players travel west of the mountains. One query though. On the Barrow Downs area, the shading (Daunting, Shadow Lands) covers Buckland (sliver of land between the river and the old forest) and also extends over Sarn Ford (an area protected by the Rangers). Is this intentional, and will be revised at a later date when the Shire gets covered in more detail, or just over-enthusiasm with the highlighter?

There was a cheeky little update to the rpgnow/drivethru files - didn't want to send out too many update emails and put people off, but we corrected a couple of things on the Player's Map today. Log into your accounts and grab the latest update.

Still looking into the logistics of adding the map files to the Bits and Mortar files.

Note that, depending upon one's settings at DTRPG/RPGNow, they may email you about updates. (I saw the note here, went to grab it, and then checked my email, and sure enough, the notice that you'd updated was there from DTRPG.)

Is the New Player Map supposed to have all the adventure locations highlighted? I don't see a way to disable the layers to remove them.

I was thinking about this as well. Would it be possible to have a Player Map without the adventure locations on it (either as a layer to be turned on/off or as a separate map)? I think it kind of defeats the purpose of adventure and exploration if all the places of interest are immediately shown to the players. Just my 2 cents.

Looks like we may have uploaded the wrong map, or something went wrong with the update. Let me check this morning and update.

On the other hand, it could explain why Bucklanders are so strange, living out beyond the river. Shadow lands would definitely contribute to the cracking. Them's queer folk in Buckland you know. Lock their doors and everything.

The correct map was uploaded in the update.

To be clear there were two updates - one which added the maps as separate PDFs, and we sent out a message to customers to let them know that was there.

We then yesterday updated again, with a file called "Eastern Eriador Players Map update.PDF" which is the one available now. No notification was sent for that one.

This is the correct map - it still has Carn Dum, The Grey Waste, Rivendell, The Last Bridge, Weathertop, MIdgewater Marshes, Bree, Brandywine Bridge, Old Forest,Caradhras and Moria marked on it, as these are considered common (enough) knowledge places to be included on a player's map. The specific adventure locations appeared on the earlier in correct version which is no longer available.

Here's what it looks like (a bit small, but if you just need to compare to what you have, it works):

Ah, I was talking about the incorrect one with all the adventure locations marked. The one above is much better. Thank you!
