A combat question.

Post by Beran » Mon Aug 04, 2014 6:47 pm

This just occurred to me and don't remember seeing a ruling in he book about it. When you have a PC that is weary in combat and they roll at least one tengu rune does that still count for figuring extra damage? Or, is it ignored as well because of the weary status?

Yes, as long as they reach the basic TN, Beran.

So, if Enemy's total Parry is 17
and the weary PC rolls:
8F+2+5+6=19 then they still hit with a great success.

if the weary PC rolls:
1F+3+6+6 = 13 then they fail to hit, period, despite having otherwise rolled an extraordinary success.(I would use Hope on that attack, though!)

If they do hit the target, unlikely I know, does the Tengu rune count to extra damage.

Example: Character is in forward stance and rolls 10F+3+6 (and is weary) to hit a forest goblin Parry of 3 (TN 9). They hit, but does the tengu still count toward figuring extra damage?

Of course, it's a successful attack so the tengwar counts for extra damage.

Ok, they don't count the six, but they do count the tengu. Got it. Thanks.

They do count the six, Beran. A character that is Weary ignores the 1, 2, and 3 numbers on the Success Die. They count all other numbers, and the Tengwar icons.

?

No, the six is counted. Only 1's, 2's, and 3's are ignored when weary. 4's, 5's, and 6's are normal. As is the Feat die.

Hmm, appears relying on digital dice rollers for pbp, instead of actually looking at the dice included with the game, has, temporarily, confused an issue for me.
