Preliminary rolls and trait usage

Sorry, if this topic had come up already but I found nothing.

I my question is about the use of traits in preliminary rolls.

For preliminary rolls before Travel in Mirkwood for example, does the use of the Mirkwood Lore trait instead of a roll count as a ordinary success and so give the player automatically one bonus dice on travel rolls?

Enemy Lore concerning battles raise the same question for me.

My LM has been doing exactly that, for what it's worth; if you have something like (Region)-Lore or Mountaineer and it is appropriate to where you'll be traveling, he gives us two options: you can claim the regular success and get your bonus die for later, or you can have an immediate bonus die for the preliminary and go fishing for Tengwars with it.

Thank for your answer.

Nonetheless, anything official on traits and preliminary rolls?

I'm pretty sure you won't get anything from C7 directly as they are at Gencon this week and will probably not be back in the UK and recovered before Tuesday or Wednesday next week.

You have my permission to play it however you want.

Yes, just as with any other roll of a common skill.

Same answer.
