Is there a limit on the number of success dice?
Is there a limit on the number of success dice?
The subject says it all really. I thought I'd read somewhere in one of the books that there was a limit of 6 success dice on any rill but can't find it.
As an extreme example could a hero with 6 in their combat skill, an advantage die from the pre fight Battle roll and suitable inspiration from a sing (From the Rivendell book) roll 9 success dice?

Certain statements in the Rivendell book limit the numbers of success dice to 6 but there doesn't seem to be a statement to the effect that six success dice is the limit that I can easily find.

The original version of the rules indicated that the game game with six success dice, "as many as necessary" for the game. So there would be a sense that six is the maximum number that you could use.

Is that a new avatar, zed, or have I just noticed it? Either way, it's good.

Put it up a couple weeks ago; it's the same as I use on rpg.net and is much better than what I was using. Thanks!Elfcrusher wrote:Is that a new avatar, zed, or have I just noticed it? Either way, it's good.

Just to add to this; in the rules clarification PDF on page 3 under Shadow Bane it states "...add one Success site to all your attack rolls (up to a maximum of 6)"Hermes Serpent wrote:Certain statements in the Rivendell book limit the numbers of success dice to 6 but there doesn't seem to be a statement to the effect that six success dice is the limit that I can easily find.

Speaking of bonus success dice, page 151 of the rulebook says that "any roll may be modified by a maximum of 1 bonus Success die". That would seem to indicate that you're never going to need more than 7 at the most.
Re: Is there a limit on the number of success dice?
Huh, that is an interesting question. Would you allow a player with a maxed out skill to use a Bonus die from a preparatory roll? I guess the answer is yes, but I might just turn it into an opportunity for a reroll. In any case, I doubt very many people rolling six dice are failing rolls.Hélend wrote:Speaking of bonus success dice, page 151 of the rulebook says that "any roll may be modified by a maximum of 1 bonus Success die". Note that the song rules in Rivendell generate a 2d bonus. When I asked, the number of success dice was capped at 6 dice, according to AndrewHélend wrote:Speaking of bonus success dice, page 151 of the rulebook says that "any roll may be modified by a maximum of 1 bonus Success die".
