Herbier de la Terre du Milieu

Post by Hermes Serpent » Tue Aug 26, 2014 5:56 pm

Has anyone done a translation of this French document covering the flora of Middle-earth?

It's a lovely five pages of illustrated information with the plants drawn as if in a medieval pharmacopeia.

Do you have a link? Can't see it via google.

I had been thinking about doing something along those lines myself, as an excuse for another read through of LOTR more than anything—but I do think it would be a useful resource for LMs/players.

I think I got it from a French site that was either related to Marauder (the magazine) or one devoted to roleplaying in M-e.

I've put it up on my Google drive - link in my sig.

Thanks AULENDIL for that. There's a lot of nice material coming out in French. I remember at least three adventures that I've seen including two in RPG magazines (Maraudeur, I think) but my French isn't good enough to do a decent translation job and Google Translate isn't really up to it with the specialist vocabulary.

I'm french, so I understand the document... :p
But, is my english good enough to translate it correctly ? Mmmm, could be interesting.

I'm from the french community like the document's author, I could contact him to ask for his permission. Maybe he would accept to translate it himself !

That would be nice. Ask him to translate the other French material as well, like the adventures from Marauder! :) It's frustrating to have material that looks really good and not being able to read it. How big is the French Community för The One Ring?

I have a document called Enigmes, Livre Premiere in a file named enigmes-t11.pdf that seems to be riddles and puzzles. A file of all the monster stats in a format that can be placed into card sleeves, called ourques-gobelins.pdf.
A file covering the Fairs of the Anduin called Les Foires de l'Anduin. It seems to use some of the game mechanics from the Laketown sourcebook to provide entertainment at these fairs. I also have a cover jpg from a Perils Des Terre Sauvage but no accompanying file.

These are quality production and seem to be produced by various numbers of Marc's (MarcB, MarcG)

There are adventures in the French RPG magazine Marauder, 8 and 9 I believe.
My Google aided translation is "Caran Gaur is a campaign of three episodes that proposes that your company travels from the Misty Mountains at the edges of Mirkwood across the valley of the Anduin."

Trolls en la Carroca is a Spanish adventure set in the Anduin valley.

Wow. It's actually quite strange that the game seems to have a lot of good scenarios and other material in other laguages, but only a few in English. We should somehow muster an effort to translate it, at least in broad strokes. Maybe I can ask my mother...
