I was trying to work out how to handle Craven foes (Goblin Archers) that are reduced to zero Hate points and try to Escape combat. Escape, for the players is an Athletics roll, so the corresponding LM adversary roll, I am guessing, is a Movement roll.
In my specific case this is a favoured skill for the Goblin Archers... so that's 3 (the skill) plus 2 (Attribute level, being added because of the favoured skill)... that's 5d. But what is that versus (TN)?
For the player characters it would be 10 + highest Attribute Level among all opponents he is facing. What is the inverse of that? Is that in the rules somewhere?
And then, lastly, do Combat Complications apply to LM characters?

First, it is 3d+2 and not 5d. That is important.
What I would do (I am no LM) is ask the PCs if they want to let the NPC leave. If they say yes, then no roll is needed, the NPC just leave the combat. If on the other hand the PC don't want to let the NPC leave, I would solve it as an opposed test. Movement of the NPC vs Battle of the PC? Athletics? Weapon Skill?
Finally, I would apply complications to NPCs, yes.

My own GM always resolves this as an opposed Athletics test, with the option on the part of the PCs to let the NPCs bail if they so desire.
It also works the other way. We once bailed on a fight with a Troll that the GM decided "No, you know what? He's weary and dodged a bunch of wounds by the skin of his teeth and it's almost dawn, dude has better things to do than chase you down."
