I think my favorite ever resolution to the adventure is the time that one of the heroes had an especially high Craft... he set out to make a forgery of the Sickle and (I believe) rolled an Extraordinary Success with a Gandalf on the Feat die. I ruled that while it might or might not fool Viglund, it was certainly sufficiently good that Cenric and the thralls would have been fooled, and thus Viglund could believe he'd been tricked by Beorn instead of by the thralls (in that game, Cenric and Guthred were captured and the thralls sent with the fake Sickle back north, with instructions to say that Cenric and Guthred had died in the raid).
That said, maybe her discomfort with the ending might spur the next adventure. Perhaps Beorn is moved by the obvious injustice of innocents suffering and has the thralls lead her hero (and maybe a Beorning NPC) to the lands of Viglund, with the intent of rescuing the families. (Since Viglund can't have a precise time-table for when his men will return, he won't have done anything too bad to the thralls' families before she arrives.)
In any case, glad to here that y'all had fun, and as Falenthal says, sounds like a great solution.

I am tring to press he rto play with other players now, but might need some more elbow nudging before that happens, so this might be the end, yes. However, i was thinking m,ore along the lines of viking raid (25-200 beornings) than small delta force strike team. One bnever knows what we will do in the end. I have to reread my sources on viglunds.

I will play TotM tomorrow as a loremaster but I have no idea if what Stonyford looks like. I have heart of the wild but can not look into the adventure book that describes Stonyford (led by another loremaster in our group where I am a player). Can someone please provide me with a glimpse into the village?
Thanks a lot!

Very poor village near the river, living from fishing. There was a ford there (hence the name of the place), but now it's a ruin. There's only a few stone left where the fort was...
That's how I remember it for when my players went there.

I finished this adventure recently - I did a poor sketch of the layout of the village to show my players but I can't work out how to add it to my post.
From ToW, there is a pile of stones on a low hill, the last remains of a watchtower. The village is a few wooden huts below the hill beside the river.
Just draw a rough plan, including a stage and the various fields required for the Tasks.
Good luck and have fun!

Thank you very much Winterwolf and Lifstan for your replies. Do the Beornings live in long houses similar to the houses of the Eotheod in Riders of Rohan (MERP)?

The illustrations that we see of Beorning settlements indicate more of smaller round-houses. Of course, they come from Woodmen stock who do have the long-house tradition. But the Beornings (not surprisingly, perhaps) seem to be a bit more independently minded.
Stonyford is an old town though, so there's probably a mix of architecture.

Thanks Zedturtle,
now at home again and I looked up a picture of Beorn's Hall drawn by J. R. R. Tolkien, that seems to be inspired by scandinavian longhouses (like in a
trelleborg). I think I will go with this setup for Stonyford and even add a simple rampart (rather easy to build and if there is a ruin of a watchtower already, some motte-and-bailey style holdover seems appropriate).
Edit: I think it will be a mixture, like you suggested: four longhouses encircled by a rampart and some smaller houses outside of it.
