Adventurer's Companion - Speculation
Re: Adventurer's Companion - Speculation
I'm sure it will be a nice book with loads of interesting stuff in any case. Dual-wielding is just a small issue, more because it's possible to pull off effectively, and warriors in the dark ages were known to do it (Norsemen and Franks, for instance).
So I might not agree on that its a good design decision not to allow using two weapons, but in a game with so much nice stuff, its not a big deal.
But if the Riders of Rohan is available to play when the Rohan book comes out, then I'm happy.

I said that the decision not to include dual wielding in the core rules was a design decision. I didn't say anything about it being impossible in this game.
Re: Adventurer's Companion - Speculation
Hoping it will be available in books down the line, maybe?
But games like, say, Yggdrasill, are full of inspiration that can be used in The One Ring. There are quick and easy rules for dual-wielding in that core book, along with other combat maneuvers that fits well into the setting.

I came back to check this post to see if there was a footnote in 6-point type that said "hint".Jon Hodgson wrote:I said that the decision not to include dual wielding in the core rules was a design decision. I didn't say anything about it being impossible in this game.
By the way, another thing I'd like to see in the Adventurer's Companion (even though it would really belong in a "Loremaster's Companion" would be more Enchanted Qualities. Twice as many, even.

Since we are getting the Dwarves of the Blue Mountains as a playable culture, will the book also include a map of Western Eriador (including the Ered Luin)? I am working on an adventure that is set in the region and I'm curious about how it will treat what seems to be passes through the northern Blue Mountains (especially in the vincinity of the site of Mount Dolmed and the ancient Dwarf-cities of Nogrod and Belegost).

Must admit, can't wait for this one to see what it adds to the mix.
I can understand why a product like this takes much longer, as it needs to be fully integrated and balanced with the rest of the line.

A map of western Eriador might be scheduled for the Maps and Journey's product rather than the Adventurers Companion. That would seem to be a more appropriate product to have such a map.

I've been thinking the same thing. I guess I'll have to wing-it for the time being.Hermes Serpent wrote:A map of western Eriador might be scheduled for the Maps and Journey's product rather than the Adventurers Companion. That would seem to be a more appropriate product to have such a map.

I stole look at the manuscript through my Palantir, and guess what?
Olag-hai as a playable culture, and they get to dual wield great swords and mauls, while taking the wizard virtue that lets them cast spells!

If StuartJ were a first-class programmer his Palantir would also search C7's internal documents.DavetheLost wrote:I stole look at the manuscript through my Palantir...
And pick their pockets, of course.
