My new hardcover failed its protection test it seems...
Greetings all. Recently (as in just 10 minutes ago), my copy of the new compiled TOR core book arrived in the mail and truly it is a thing of beauty. The new cover, the new layout, even the smell of new book printing as I crack open the spine (I love that smell).
However my joy is dampened by the fact that my book is scarred. Literally. Right across the front cover is a long, somewhat deep scratch that cuts through the paper of the cover. It looks like someone got over zealous with the box cutter when they were unpacking the book. And no, I didn't use a box cutter to open it with, and there was packing paper at the top of the box anyway, so it couldn't have been me.
It's very noticeable, and a major eye-sore, but it doesn't make the book unusable. So my question is, is this something C7 would replace? And how would I go about doing that? I know they're generally very good on customer service, and I did order the book through their store and not, say, amazon or something. But would they replace the book over a simple cover scar?
Thank-you in advance for any help...

If you send Nick an email (info AT cubicle7.co.uk) he'll be able to deal with your problem!

Thanks Andrew! I set him an email about the problem.

My copy also arrived damaged, though not as much as yours: mine has a crushed corner. Again, not unusable, but I've dropped Nick a line to see whether it can be replaced: I want the book to at least start off looking perfect. :-)
Edit: Nick responded to say that C7 would replace the damaged copy. I remain very impressed by C7's excellent customer service.

Guys can i make a reccomendation?
Keep the book and use it for your "beater" version. Then get a another copy of the book and it should be brought back to your citadel to be kept safe. Hidden; dark and deep in the vaults, not to be used. Unless at the uttermost end of need...

My advice? Throw it into the Cracks of Doom.

My original set had the problem many of them did (bad spine), and C7 handled it quickly and with class. IMHO they're one of the best at customer service in the industry, and this approach will likely give them loyal customers for life!

Tale of Years for a second, lower-level group (in the same campaign).

And it sounds like this issue is more the result of bad shipping than bad production. That makes them triple awesome; taking ownership for something that is really not at all their fault.

Yeah, but will the fulfillment manager's eldest son ever be allowed out of the C7 tower?Rocmistro wrote:And it sounds like this issue is more the result of bad shipping than bad production. That makes them triple awesome; taking ownership for something that is really not at all their fault.

Just updating to say that dealing with Nick at Cubicle7s customer service was probably the smoothest customer service experience I've ever had. They've offered to send a replacement copy for my book, and the whole process was quick and hassle free. I'm very happy about this. It was hearing about things like this from other people that gave me enough faith in C7 to start ordering from them direct, rather than other sites, and start buying into several of their other games (like Doctor Who). Having now dealt with them myself, my C7 loyalty has gone up another couple of notches today.
