Huh. That sounds really high.

The variance on 100x can be pretty high; I usually use 100x to find something close to 50/50 then switch to 10,000x for accurate results.

Probably because I was running 100 times, not 10,000.

Now, for an off-topic question -
Do you know if there is a table that shows the amount or % of times a PC is hit that compares:
2 or 3 (or more) weapon skill for an enemy
Parry rating of combat stance (6, 9, 12) + shield (1, 2, 3) (ignoring Wits, to keep the variables to just stance and shield).

Mostly, I'm curious what % reduction in hits occurs with each shield. How big of a difference does each +1 make?

MrMosse Posted on Nov 9 2011, at 08:41 PM a chart showing the chance to hit various target numbers from TN10 to TN 20 and again when Weary. It was calculated to include the effect of the feat die.

It shows that for the standard TN 14 the probability of making that 14 is 8% 17% 42% 70% 89% 97% 99% for 0 ranks in a skill to 6 ranks.

You can use Anydice.com to do probability calculations for seeing where a sweet spot is and then 10000 iterations with EC's program to verify the effect.

At higher ranks of skill (4+) the shield's +1 or +2 makes only a small difference (around 6%-12% or so) depending on your stance and Parry. I'd also advise that eliminating the hero's Parry will throw the numbers way out. A Parry plus shield of 6 will make a hero in Defensive stance 50% harder to hit (83% to 39%) for 4 ranks in a weapon.

That chart is exactly what I was looking for!

Let me see if I can find it, though, it was on the old forums...

Do you know what the title of this OP was?

Do you guys maybe think you over analyse things a bit sometimes?

The best armour is the one that doesn't get you killed.

Which one is that?

The one you picked - or didn't pick as the case may be.

Absolutely. Half of the reason this forum is active is because it's full of over-analysis of opinionated people. Or, people quietly reading this over-analysis (I being one of them!). ;)
