Twice-baked honey Cakes so powerful
Twice-baked honey Cakes so powerful
Is only me or this cakes are super? One additional point of Hope in the Fellowship pool but also reduce all Fatigue Test TN by Wisdom of the Beorning who makes it, so average three points less.
The powerful thing is the all Fatigue test, not just a few or something like that. I guess it can be interesting a Hazard to wet the cakes or a raccoon stole it. Another restriction is that you need access to honey to make them so if you're not in the Anduin vales of the beornings or a town with good commerce as Dale or Lake-town you don't have the ingredients.

I freely admit that I peer-pressured a fellow PC to pick Beorning over Dwarf so our Fellowship could have TBHC.

Yeah, the TN reduction being based on Wisdom makes it very powerful. At higher level, you'd have to cross Mirkwood blindfolded to encounter any hazard

Shadow and Dark Lands can be brutal, though, especially if heroes are Weary.Yusei wrote:Yeah, the TN reduction being based on Wisdom makes it very powerful. At higher level, you'd have to cross Mirkwood blindfolded to encounter any hazard
Now if only the cakes would apply to Corruption rolls, too....
EDIT: It would be fun to play a 2-man campaign with Hobbit and Beorning. 5 Fellowship Points shared between two players every session.

Well, the revised rules say you encounter a hazard on an Eye of Sauron whether you fail at the Fatigue test or not.
I would agree with limiting your honey cakes if you don't have access to honey, except in The Lord of the Rings the hobbits are constantly finding extra crumbs of lembas in their pockets long after you'd expect them to be completely out. It seems in keeping with this spirit that you'll always manage to find a few bits of honey cakes in your gear no matter how long you've been on the road.
In the end it seems simpler to just assume you've been hoarding them as best you can and so always have them.

Yeah, our LM maxed out the bonus to -2 Travel TN. Otherwise, Travel starts to get too easy, and why make rolls?
However, I think (and this has been discussed before), the most powerful Virtue of all is the Woodmen's Hound:
+2 Hope
Aid (reroll Fate) for Awareness, Explore, Hunting
Take 1 Wound for you
Cause 1 opponent to be Weary (always)
Enable you to fight in Rearward without any other PCs
How is this balanced compared to any other Virtue? You would have to spend 6 EXP (in addition to the EXP spent to get the Virtue in the first place) to get all of these bonuses. But still...

Because as soon as an adversary gets a pierce on you the hound and all its bonuses are gone until end of session or adventure.Blubbo Baggins wrote:Yeah, our LM maxed out the bonus to -2 Travel TN. Otherwise, Travel starts to get too easy, and why make rolls?

That's true. But, still, it is a very good Virtue (and with a little Healing skill, you can make sure it's only gone for the rest of the battle/session).Elfcrusher wrote: Because as soon as an adversary gets a pierce on you the hound and all its bonuses are gone until end of session or adventure.
