Would you consider Dimrill Watch, the dwarven keep on the north border of Dimrill Dale (pg 57 HotW), to be a blighted place? From the description it doesn't seem like it is infested with orcs but then there is the rumor of ghosts.
I have the keep all drawn out but I still need to decide if it is blighted or not.

Re: Dimrill Watch from the Heart of the Wild
The info in HotW seems to suggest the ghosts in that location tend to haunt Orcs that stay too long, so I'm not sure how the ghosts themselves would react to other cultures. That said, the Dimrill Dale as a whole has been raided many times by Orcs from Moria, so if Dwarven ghosts are present, it's fair to say that there could be a lot of lingering grief, sorrow, etc. Sounds like a sufficiently blighted place to me.
"What happens now?"
"Well, I guess there would be an awkward pause in the conversation."
"How long of a pause? Is it six seconds long?"
"Yeah, I'd imagine so."
"I fire another arrow!"

Re: Dimrill Watch from the Heart of the Wild
As far as I'm concerned, ghosts equals blighted. It is unnatural for the spirits of the dead to remain in Middle-earth, against their destinies. When they do, it's always bad.
Re: Dimrill Watch from the Heart of the Wild
Thanks Stilts and Stormcrow! That makes a lot of sense especially in light of the fact that it is haunted. So blighted it is.

Re: Dimrill Watch from the Heart of the Wild
A quick note, Dwarves spirits cannot be forced to remain, not even the Rings of Power did the trick (and the Seven are more powerful than the Nine). If there is something haunting that place, it's not dwarvish. Actually this could lead to a more interesting story about the plece rather than the obvious....
Re: Dimrill Watch from the Heart of the Wild
There is a significant difference between "forced" and "unable/unwilling to leave, for the weight of sorrow".
