Fair point, although I wasn't thinking of such direct contact. I was imagining a smith on Numenor working at his forge with moonlight reflecting off of Nimloth coming through the window. Or something like that, where "fragment" means "a tiny mote derived from..."Robin Smallburrow wrote:Thanks for fixing up the 'hallowed' question for me Elfcrusher, very happy with what you came up with here, although I think the description should be amended to read:

This satisfies the main reference that Tolkien refers to: "Hallowed by ...." Such items are of course considered holy and reverenced by certain cultures, a PC coming across such an item may require it's own adventure.....

Don't worry, we aren't negotiating royaltiesElfcrusher wrote:Sorry! I should have had the courtesy to dig through and find the thread.Corvo wrote:It was meElfcrusher wrote: (...)
And I forgot who (Falenthal?) gave me the idea for Bastion; somebody was working on a quality that would provide Valour bonus to Wisdom rolls or vice versa. I'm not sure what I think about a Blessing to a Wisdom roll, though...seems a bit self-referential. The roll becomes Xd6+X.

The final form was Valour as a bonus to Wisdom rolls

By the way, I think you expressed some interest in the "shoot arrow in the night sky/elf lights duplicate"?

Yes, I love that idea. I hope a future supplement expands the list of virtues, and adds new "features" like this one to existing ones.Corvo wrote: By the way, I think you expressed some interest in the "shoot arrow in the night sky/elf lights duplicate"?

Bumping this up as i'm grabbing it all and also to ask a question:
Why did you limit Ironbane to daggers and shortswords, I'm thinking it's for balance reasons (lower injury rating) but wanted to ask before throwing that out the water and sticking it on a longsword?

Oh....flavor and history. Angrist was a dagger. I was sort of picturing it as something that a lucky hero would carry in addition to his/her primary weapon, rather than piling on more enchanted qualities and making it the primary weapon itself.PST wrote:Bumping this up as i'm grabbing it all and also to ask a question:

EDIT: And, yes, mechanically for the reason you suggest. Subtracting two protection dice AND a high Injury seemed a bit much.

Ahh, doh, Angrist, of course. I was thinking of Anguirel and Anglachel as being able to cleave iron but forgot the most influential dagger in ME.Elfcrusher wrote:Oh....flavor and history. Secondary items are interesting, my group's been very one-weapon focused, to the point that most of them don't have any secondary weapon above 1. Given the rarity of magic items, handing out a magic axe to the dwarf who has mattock as his weapon seems harsh as a 'thing for him' but obviously works as 'thing for him to take to the Blue Mountains and hand over to its rightful keeper. I'll have a think on it, thanks for the response (and the list, which i've gladly yoinked and am populating my treasure list with).

You're welcome! I culled a bunch of ideas that I didn't think we're good enough, but I do want to expand the list. I'm also working on wondrous artifacts.
