Buying LM Screen...PDF included?

Post by Ozric » Sun Jul 21, 2013 8:35 pm

Hi,

If I were to buy a physical copy of the LM screen from the Cubicle 7 store, does it come with a free copy of the PDF? The product description makes no mention of the PDF, so I'm guessing the answer would be "no," but I wanted to be certain before making a purchasing decision, since I know Cubicle 7 often bundles PDFs with physical items when buying from them.

When I purchased my physical copies, they had deleted the pdfs as an option (if you search the Forums, there are tons of threads about their deletion of the pdfs & you'll see what I mean ;) ).

They since added the scans, however, & sent me mine. Thus, I'm guessing that yes, you should probably receive a pdf, if not immediately, then through a possible delay while they process your order :)

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, I remember when the pdfs weren't available. Those were truly days of darkness ;)

Anyway, that would be good news if the pdf were to be bundled with it. I actually already own a physical copy of the screen, so a pdf is mainly what I'm after, but I like to keep an extra copy of gamemaster screens in shrinkwrap for games I'm likely to play, and I'd save a little money if I could get them as a bundle.

I'm pretty sure you would get the PDFs, since they gave them to us when they didn't have to.

So it would appear the pdf is not included with the LM screen. I ordered Heart of the Wild and the LM screen a couple days ago, got a pdf for Heart of the Wild, but not for the screen--which I knew was a possibility since it was never confirmed by a representative of Cubicle 7. I'm guessing that everyone who bought the LM screen from Cubicle 7 received a copy of the pdf because there was no opportunity to offer it as a preorder bundle, since they weren't allowed to sell pdf's at the time of its release.

Luckily, Drivethrurpg is having their Christmas in July sale, so I got the pdf for 20% off the normal price. Even though I already have a physical copy of the screen and didn't really need another one, I can either sell the extra and recover most of my money, or just leave it in shrinkwrap alongside my extra shrinkwrapped copy of The One Ring ruleset.

I believe the reason for not doing the pdfs for a time was due to the lawsuit between Middle Earth Enterprises and the Tolkein Estate.

Something went very wrong somewhere. You should have been sent the PDF of the Lake-town guide and screen when you bought through our store. I'm out of the office right now, but as soon as I get back we'll see what we can do to sort this out for you. I'm very sorry to hear you had to buy a separate PDF. That should not have been thigh case.

Oh! Meant to add - always always always email us about issues like this. Forum posts, as you can see, are easily missed.

Oh, I certainly would've emailed had I thought an issue had actually occurred. Since the product description in the Cubicle 7 store makes no mention of the pdf being bundled, I figured I was taking a chance when I made my purchase, and I was okay with that.

I personally don't feel Cubicle 7 actually promised me anything that was not delivered, so I'm not convinced I'm owed anything, but I've long thought of the company as a class act and an offer to address this incident in some way only reinforces that opinion. I'm fine with things as they stand, but I wouldn't turn my nose up at some store credit or something for the next time I place an order.

Anyway, it might not be a bad idea to update the descriptions for The One Ring products with an indication that pdfs are bundled with the physical product, as I suspect they're left over from the time when pdfs were unavailable.

Thanks for the reply!
