Woodland Bow aid
Woodland Bow aid
If my Elf took the Bow, Sword, Dagger weapon set, but he also took the "Woodland Bow" reward for going Valor>Wisdom, does that change the stats of the Bow he starts with?
As in, do I (in his inventory) state that he has a WOODLAND BOW, Sword and Dagger? As in, does he have an actual item called WOODLAND BOW? And if so, does that bow have different stats than Damage 5, Edge 10, Injury 14, Enc 1 like the regular "Bows?"

Re: Woodland Bow aid
I'm not positive I understand your question. But yes, he would have a woodland bow. It would have the same exact stats as a regular bow, except you'd be able to make one extra opening volley.

Perfect, exactly the info I needed. Thank you, Morgoth!Morgoth wrote:I'm not positive I understand your question. But yes, he would have a woodland bow. It would have the same exact stats as a regular bow, except you'd be able to make one extra opening volley.
Haha, "Thank you Morgoth..." Said nobody in Middle Earth, EVER! ;D
Re: Woodland Bow aid
By the way, in the reward list (page 118) it's called "Woodland Bow (bow)"
This is to say that it's exactly a bow, just with the extra rules described in the paragraph.

Cool, so, when I see that the parenthetical "( )" is used am I supposed to glean that "whatever bow that reward's possessor uses would likely be a "Woodland Bow" style of THAT particular bow and therefore capable of a second initial volley?Corvo wrote:By the way, in the reward list (page 118) it's called "Woodland Bow (bow)"

Specifically, it means that a woodland bow is always a "bow" and never a "great bow". See "Splitting Axe" to see counter-example.HotSnow50 wrote:Cool, so, when I see that the parenthetical "( )" is used am I supposed to glean that "whatever bow that reward's possessor uses would likely be a "Woodland Bow" style of THAT particular bow and therefore capable of a second initial volley?Corvo wrote:By the way, in the reward list (page 118) it's called "Woodland Bow (bow)"

Being new to the game, I wouldn't know much about similarities between weapons of the same type, so this might be a stupid question but, are all the "BOWs" in the game possessing the same stats? For instance does a "BOW" (not a GREAT BOW) purchased in Esgaroth going to have the exact same stats as a "BOW" found in a Troll Horde in the Ettinmoors?Elfcrusher wrote:Specifically, it means that a woodland bow is always a "bow" and never a "great bow". Nope. "Bow" and "Great Bow" are two different weapons, in the family "Bows".HotSnow50 wrote:Being new to the game, I wouldn't know much about similarities between weapons of the same type, so this might be a stupid question but, are all the "BOWs" in the game possessing the same stats? Bow
Damage 5, Edge 10, Injury 14, Encumbrance 1
Great Bow
Damage 7, Edge 10, Injury 16, Encumbrance 3
A Keen, Fell Great Bow is a dangerous weapon, but a little unwieldy in a dense forest.

EC: I think you might have misparsed HS's question. A Bow is a Bow. But qualities can change the stat line. And Rewards are thing the player has earned... a LM should not take away a Woodland Bow after it's been paid for, et cetera.

You might take a look at p. 135 of the Adventurer's Book, too, as it spells out that the player decides whether a Reward is an upgrade to an existing weapon, something newly discovered on a bow the character already had, or an entirely new weapon.
It even uses a Woodland Bow as one of the examples.

Tale of Years for a second, lower-level group (in the same campaign).
