How Long are your TOR Sessions?
How Long are your TOR Sessions?
So the section on Experience Points and lengths of sessions got me thinking. Apparently our RPG sessions are a bit longer than average. We usually play on Friday and Saturday nights (every other week), and our games go for 5-7 hours. Breaks are pretty rare for us, too; mostly people take bathroom breaks and the like throughout play.

3.5-4 hours, plus a break. I think they're quite short, then again I was just going over the rules and saw how an Adventure should go about 2-3 sessions but we're nowhere near the end of ours. The issue of timing is, I feel, one of the bigger questions in TOR; bigger than most of the rules, I think.

Re: How Long are your TOR Sessions?
It certainly seems key to gauging the proper amount of both Experience Points and making sure you're on track with the allocation of Advancement Points. Not enough and your player could get frustrated with slow character growth. Give them out too fast and your players become heroes that could go toe-to-toe with Morgoth himself!
Based on our longer sessions, we seem to be able to polish off a complete Adventuring Phase in two sessions, plus a Fellowship Phase.

We go for about 10 - 11 hours one Saturday a month with an hour or so break for dinner.

Agreed. That sounds like a blast! I suppose you probably knock out an entire Adventuring Phase in one session?

I hope you have lots of snacks, or a hobbit might starve! (As not-a-hobbit I agree that sounds really fun.)Celebril wrote:We go for about 10 - 11 hours one Saturday a month with an hour or so break for dinner.
