Epic Feats

Post by shipwreck » Sat Oct 25, 2014 2:39 am

The Company made it to the Eagle's Eyrie and it has been Hathlel's (my wife's elf) dream to fly with the eagles. As Landroval swept Oin away (I modified Rich's quest) she rolls a difficult Athletics test to latch on to the eagle.

From there it went like this: 'If you seriously want to ride that Eagle you must roll a G'. She does. There is much rejoicing. They get back to Lake-town in record time. My wife loves TOR night even more.

Did I compromise my Tolkien interpretation? Maybe. Did I mess up the Epic Feat rules? You bet. Will she ever know? Nope.

This is the same woman who, when diving to save someone from getting sucked down by the Thing in the well, rolled an Eye just after I said, 'You better not roll an Eye.'

Have folks noticed that whenever someone says anything about either rolling or not rolling an Eye the roll ends up exactly that, rolling an Eye. I had another occurrence of the last night, one player says don't roll an Eye, another player promptly rolls an Eye. Doesn't work with Gandalf's though.
Some TOR Information on my G+ Drive.

It is proof that the spirit of Sauron endures, beyond the walls of night, to trouble the world of men, when his name is called upon.
Rignuth: Barding Wordweaver Wanderer in Southron Loremaster's game.
Amroth Ol'Hir: High Elf Vengeful Kin Slayer in Zedturtle's game.
Jakk O'Malli: Dwarven Orator Treasure-Hunter in Hermes Serpent's game.

It's true. The loss of the One Ring condemned him to never take physical form again, but some say he can still subtly influence dice rolls...

Perhaps from now on we should not speak his name aloud. At the table, he should be referenced as "He who shall not be named". ;)

Awesome story, shipwreck. Those moments are awesome, and though there's no way you could have ever planned to pull that off (it's just barely over an 8% chance to roll that Gandalf), they're spectacular when they happen! 8-)
Tale of Years for a second, lower-level group (in the same campaign).
