I used Glorfindel as an NPC briefly, and I gave him an ability inspired by his terrifying the Nazgul. I didn't intend to use it since I assumed my players would be fine, but they managed to have some really bad luck fighting a hill troll... so I used the ability and the troll ran away.

Yeah, whatever. So did Ecthelion and Gandalf. How hard could it be?
Is that a rhetorical question or a challenge?

You are leaving Woodman Hall this evening UK time aren't you :-)

Glorfindel once shot down a dragon by pointing his finger and saying "Bang!"

You could almost say you have an Elf...crush on him. ;)
Tale of Years for a second, lower-level group (in the same campaign).

"...they withdrew and I pursued them..."
That is an amazing quote and idea, indeed.

So someone should stat out Glorfindel and compare him to facing down (at least) 3 Ringwraiths...would it be possible to create a High Elf using TOR that could face the Ringwraiths published?

You're onto me. And here you all thought I was a Crusher of Elves.

Me and the G-del. Bromance.

Speaking of which...any of you Tolkien scholars have any good translations for "Elf Crusher" in any of his various languages? I'm thinking I should change my forum tag.

And I'm not a Sindarin scholar (I don't get the conjugation/mutation of the language) but I think the closest you could get to 'Elf Crusher' would be Edhelortheri (Elf Conqueror), Edhelristo (Elf Cutter/Render), Edheldagnir (Elf Slayer).

There aren't many specific, destructive verbs in the available Sindarin vocabulary.

But ask someone more learned than I to sort out the syntax, et al.
