Organizing Images
Organizing Images
I love providing lots of images for my heroes but organizing them can be tricksy. Therefore, I submit it to you, o wise ones: if you use images how do you keep them from getting too disorganized?
I use an iPad and generally work out of Chrome, that way I can have music playing from YouTube or Tabletopaudio.com whilst using other tabs for images for whatever else. The problem is that I just have too many. So do I make a Google Drive folder tree organized by, say, region of Wilderland? Or put the ones I will likely use that evening in a document? Do I just use the Pictures app thingy? So far each has its pros and cons and I wonder if there's nothing out there that will be as close to perfect as I wish.
Anyways, just checking in to see what you other Loremasters have had success with.

Re: Organizing Images
I select the ones I'm going to use next session and put them in a folder.
I rename the archives to "1.Lake-town", "2.Glóin", etc in the order I'll probably need them.
To show them, I just use the Windows Gallery presentation mode (picture in its actual size and black background).

For any computerized RPG organization, I always recommend OneNote. Hyperlink your adventure notes to your pictures.
Re: Organizing Images
I'm on Roll20, so it's a little different. But I make sure the ones I intend to use for the next session are in the journal before we start. On my computer I simply have everything in a huge folder. It's messy, but scanning through it is kind of fun, so I don't mind.
Re: Organizing Images
Reading this mad me think whether there would be interest for sharing a centralized repository of freely available pictures specifically for The One Ring.
I know I always have a hard time searching the web for fantasy pictures with the right feel for The One Ring (still looking for one of "the Old Ford" that does not involve a car), but to have a shared Pinterest account for forum members would be quite interesting. Of course no upload of copyrighted material, only reference to what is already available on the web.

Re: Organizing Images
Some of that exists within Elfcrusher's Journey app... there's a tab for images and if you hit a hex that has an image associated with it, you can follow a link to the source image's location (i.e. it's hotlinked, no hosting on the app).

Re: Organizing Images
I use Evernote, not only for images but adventure plots, NPCs... everything I need to keep track of my adventures.
Basically, you have a stack of notebooks and each notebook is a folder. Then you can create notes within, containing text and/or attached documents and of course you have hyperlynks available.
Being free, cloud based and multiplatform (I use it on android and windows as well) it gives me everything I need.

Re: Organizing Images
I run my games with a laptop and flow through a PowerPoint deck for the narrative parts with pictures, videos, and sound. I've started to use Epic table with a Dundjinni made map for combats. Prior I was just using Dundjinni itself as the mapping and combat display. I've used OneNote for diagram based maps like Hindenburg floor plans with character tokens on top.
