Yeah, the tricky bit is that Rivendell uses the word Ettin for either a sort of earth elemental or primitive troll, with one option for them to have two heads. My build is for a more "traditional" two headed type. So there's some confusion with the official material if we call a fan-made adversary an Ettin (a problem that admittedly didn't exist when you made yours).poosticks7 wrote:The Ettin is the name for a Two headed troll.
When I did my extra adversaries for Rich H's document I had the Ettin as a troll but Rich changed it to a giant. I didn't argue with him because he made such athere'sy job of everything - but in Middle Earth an Ettin is a two headed troll.

I really like the concept of Confused, even if the implementation needs tweaking. I'll try to think of some variants.

Maybe a Perception test in order to take a regular action, with a no-op on a fail and a hurt ally on a Gandalf failure?Elfcrusher wrote:I really like the concept of Confused, even if the implementation needs tweaking. I'll try to think of some variants.

One option would be for the heroes to have to intentionally confuse it, using Riddle or Battle. The downside is that anybody who reads the description knows, "Oh, this is where we have to roll Riddle or Battle..."zedturtle wrote:Maybe a Perception test in order to take a regular action, with a no-op on a fail and a hurt ally on a Gandalf failure?Elfcrusher wrote:I really like the concept of Confused, even if the implementation needs tweaking. Maybe each round he has to roll Perception against a DC of 12 + (number of engaged heroes). On a failed roll the heads get into an argument and he wastes his turn. On a failure with an eye they start fighting each other.

Ooh. Ooh. Ooh. What if we dropped Hate down to somewhere near the original amount and then Riddle can be used to Intimidate? And when the troll rolls a Gandalf it loses the next round arguing with itself?Elfcrusher wrote:One option would be for the heroes to have to intentionally confuse it, using Riddle or Battle. Thanks. That's InDesign, which I use to put together my stuff. That's a collection of fan-made monsters, but you can see a more finished product in my "An Introductory Adventure" thread.Original Aragorn wrote:Nice! What program is that?

Very cool, I saw that thread and haven't read it yet. Perhaps it's time to do so.zedturtle wrote:Thanks. That's InDesign, which I use to put together my stuff. Were you already working on the two-headed troll or was it in response to this thread?

The Shambling Troll and the Fell Beast (inspired by Rocmistro's even more tough version) have appeared in my games. The Two-Headed Troll was made for this thread, I hadn't considered it before.Original Aragorn wrote:Very cool, I saw that thread and haven't read it yet.
