Two-Headed Trolls
There's a line from The Hobbit (Roast Mutton) that says: "Yes, I am afraid trolls do behave like that, even those with only one head each."
Has anyone statted up a 2-headed troll? (Which I supposed would be an awful lot like an Ettin)

Hobbit Tales has a hazard card "Two-headed Troll". It's rating is only 5.
However, it makes me wonder, if Two-headed Troll would have more or even less wits than One-headed.

Oh, interesting. Didn't know about Hobbit Tales.MattG wrote:Hobbit Tales has a hazard card "Two-headed Troll". It's rating is only 5.

Great question LOL.
Overall I would say:
*Would definitely be a Stone Troll (since the Hobbit was talking about Stone Trolls)
*I would give them lower wits (for the comedic affect)
*I would give them awesome perception (hard to be caught unawares with two heads)
*And maybe some kind of random chance of bickering or disagreement amongst the heads
*But strong as hell
Gotta go. My wife seems perplexed that I'm not helping with Thanksgiving stuff.

The stone trolls statted up in Rivendel can have two heads.

I'm thinking you're thinking of the Ettins, right?Arkat wrote:The stone trolls statted up in Rivendell can have two heads.

Here's my stab at a
Two-Headed Troll
- Attribute Level: 9
Endurance: 72
Hate: 7
Parry: 5
Armour: 3d
- Personality: 2
Survival: 2
Movement: 2
Custom: 1
Perception: 3
Vocation: 1
- Club 3
Crush 1
- Great Size
Horrible Strength
Hideous Toughness
Confused
Confused: This adversary is easily distracted. At the start of combat, each hero in close combat must select a unique number from 1 through 10. Whenever the adversary acts, roll a Feat die. If the roll matches a number selected by a hero, the adversary will attack that hero if possible. If the number does not match, the creature takes no action. On a Sauron, the adversary may select a target. On a Gandalf, the creature will do the basic damage of its favoured weapon to either itself or an ally, at the Loremaster's discretion. The creature may spend a point of Hate to ignore this ability and attack normally.

Ah, yeah you are right. I mixed ettins and stone trolls.

Ha! Pretty awesome. I think the Hate, the Skills, etc are spot on. However, I do think the "Confused" ability - while highly entertaining - gimps the creature too much. If it's in combat with 3-4 adversaries that means that well over 50% of the time it won't get to attack (if I'm reading it right).zedturtle wrote:I'm thinking you're thinking of the Ettins, right?Arkat wrote:The stone trolls statted up in Rivendell can have two heads.

Perhaps only on a Gandalf, it is so distracted bickering with itself that it deals its basic damage to itself and can take no other action that round. Each round thereafter, it must make a Personality check to see if it can divert its attention back to more important matters - such as the melee. If the check is failed, it deals damage again that round. This continues until it passes the check.
I figure this might make the Confusion a possibility that might crop up every couple fights but without crippling it too much.
But overall I really like your writeup!

Yeah... I'm not sure about Confused either, though it did make me feel good about making a real heavy hitter that isn't as dangerous as it looks.
I was thinking about using a success die and making it only be the characters Engaged with the Troll that would be subject to its attacks.
Another solution would be to up its Hate by a few points... the idea being that the Confusion would only come into play once it was out of Hate (possibly due to Intimidation).

Re: Two-Headed Trolls
The Ettin is the name for a Two headed troll.
When I did my extra adversaries for Rich H's document I had the Ettin as a troll but Rich changed it to a giant. I didn't argue with him because he made such a lovely job of everything - but in Middle Earth and Ettin is a two headed troll.
