All of my players survived. They did a pretty good job fortifying the gatehouse and training villagers.
That being said, it was a very near thing.
Our Woodman leape from the top of the gatehouse into the hordes of Orcs beneath in an effort to get to the Gibbet King. He broke a leg in the jump, but he did a "Rally Comrades" action just before the plunge. I couldn't have asked for a more valiant action. Our Beorning followed him out and managed to push the cart into the river. They both survived, but barely.

The same can not be said for our Elf during Watch on the Heath. :(

After hearing all of these stories (and being as we're making our way through 'Tales' right now), I've prepped my players that there may be some glorious deaths coming! They've been remarkably understanding about it, too.
Tale of Years for a second, lower-level group (in the same campaign).
