Eastern Eriador Episodic Campaign

Post by damiller » Sun Nov 30, 2014 5:10 pm

On the weeks the regular group can't meet I am running a side campaign in Eastern Eriador that is episodic. We had our first adventure last night, and I thought it was good fun.

Here is the map

Under the dim black night Lord Elron strode among the garden, beneath the silver leafed trees. The festival raged inside, but his mind was dark with news from Mithrandir. He was deep in contemplation when the Lord Coryell approached him with a tall goblet of crimson wine.

"Lord, drink, it is a pleasant autumnal evening, we should be joyous." Coryell held forward the goblet, Elrond took it.

"Thank you. We should be grateful, but the Winter is coming." Elrond cast his eyes toward the ground.

"Lord?"

"We will speak of this momentarily, return to the banquet hall, I will meet you there."

Next to the fire Mithrandir shared stories and news of the day with any who would listen. The crowd had grown considerably, and Saeros was among them. He, like all, loved to hear from the old wizard. Just as Mithrandir was ready to share his news of the world, Elrond called to the Assembly to come to their tables, and hear him. Mithrandir joined Elrond at the front.

Elrond scanned the crowd slowly, "Tonight has been a special occasion, but I fear that feeling of mirth will quickly end, for I have received the most heinous of news: The Enemy has declared in Mordor."

Mithrandir bent slightly and a fork clattered to the floor ringing like a loud bell in the silent hall.

The hall erupted in chatter. Elrond held up his hand "But that is not the worst." He looked to Mithrandir, who subtly looked at the ceiling, then snapped back with an "oh".

"Ah, yes, I brought this news to Lord Elrond," he glanced at Elrond then back at the crowd, " and more. The One Ring has not been destroyed."

A cry went up from the crowd, "How can this be!"

Mithrandir pursed his lips, "Through my studies I have learned that the Ring and its Master are one. If one is alive, so is the other." Mithrandir nodded to Elrond.

"We must race ahead of the Enemy. His greed will reach to our lands in search of the One Ring or any other relics to help him overthrow Middle Earth. We must not let him grasp any of these items, especially the Ring. To that end, any who wish can aid us."

The entire room stood up.
