Anybody done anything interesting with Gollum?

Our campaign has reached the year where Gollum is living in the Western Eaves of Mirkwood, and the players will be adventuring among the Woodmen for the next years (The Wizard's Man mixed with Words of the Wise, the Folk-Moot,...).

My plan is to talk about the gossip concerning missing cattle, stolen babies and murdered farmers during the next Fellowship Phase.
From then on, some Travel Hazards will be tied to "the Bloody Ghost" when in Mirkwood:
Food stolen by some spider-like creature (the Hunter must hunt new food or everyone becomes Weary, for example); a pair of glowing eyes that stares at them every night as the company camps, but the Look-out is unable to catch them (corruption tests as they fell gloomy, or Awareness to avoid being attacked by surprise); strange footprints on a path that force the scout to explore for an alternative way; ...

I would LM him as a rumor, maybe a glimpse now and then. No stats needed.
