Piercing Blow question

Post by Khamul » Sat Dec 27, 2014 9:50 am

It states that if the Feat Die result in the initial attack is equal to or higher than the Edge rating of the weapon, the attack results in a Piercing Blow.

My question is, The result of the attack still must be a success for it to be a Piercing Blow right? Lets say you have to beat TN19. You still must overcome TN19 with your Feat Die and your Success Dies (and maybe a Hope point).

If I understand your question correctly, the attack should be successful to elicit a piercing blow (page 177 of the revised edition).
Hope it helps

Getting an Edge on the Feat die is one the very best reasons to use Hope to ensure a successful attack; that, and rolling Tengwars.
