How does a monster flee from close combat?

I think he must also roll Athletics (Movement in his case) like the heroes:
If he fails, he loses his attack next turn.
If engaged with more than one hero, he needs an extraordinary success at least.

If you're going with that (which I think is a valid approach) then it would be 10 + the highest Attribute of the party. I might just restrict it to the highest Wits, as that seems to be the default 'Reaction' attribute.

Another alternative is to make it player agency instead of adversary agency: e.g. anybody in close combat with the fleeing adversary gets to make an Athletics roll to try to stop him.
