Very good point!
I'd say that Gandalf could have informed Radagast of this, and it would be the reason why the Grey Wizard asks the Brown Wizard to keep an eye on the zone. The part about the notes being in Erebor doesn't ring good to me. The Wizards keep their matters to themselves, so I wouldn't go with the option that he had talked to anyone in Erebor about a Shadow in southern Mirkwood.

Yes, but they have already met with Radagast and he did not know about the name of the wraith. But maybe Radagast has forgotten that he talked to Gandalf about it, but he maybe put it down in writing after the meeting with Gandalf and if my Hero was to look around in Radagast homestead he just might find that clue...

I had my players go to Dale during the Gathering specifically to find Gandalf. That way there was a direct link between the adventures for players.

Radagast is on his way to Dol Guldur to see if there is any activities at the citadel. This trip will take some 60 days before he is back in Rhosgobel. Maybe chief Imnachar of Rhosgobel will offer 10-15 rangers to maked it to Dwimmerhorn to see if its possible to rescue the slaves.
Maybe Hartfast can do the same from Mountain Hall...
...but what if the heroes travels to Thranduil and try to talk him into assault Dwimmerhorn? Would he be interested in this or does he have to much trouble closer to his own realm?
One warg got away from the fight in the marshes and he have reported this to Ghor that an odd group of men, elf, dwarf and a child hindered the orc-group from catching Walar and that he probably is with this group. Ghor send a tracking party after the heroes and scout them at both Mountain Hall and Rhosgobel (the heroes split their group in two with the elf going to Rhosgobel to talk to Radagast).
any thoughts about this?
