Paper Stand Ups

Post by beardo1976 » Wed Jan 07, 2015 2:09 pm

Hiya folks,

I just recently purchased The One Ring and am loving the game. I was wondering if there are any paper stand ups available to print out for use on the fan made battle mats. I have lots of the old Battletech plastic holders I could put to good use :)

Thanks!

I did a little research on this a while back (I settled on making cardboard tokens to use on the board until one of my players gets a Kickstarter with lots of minis) and there aren't any official TOR (or really any LOTR) paper minis. That said, there are quite a lot of generic ones and I bet you could find some home made Middle-earth ones out there.

I really like these but I know how to get them since the Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/68 ... miniatures

Good luck on your hunt!

Shipwreck,

Thanks for the links, I'm sure I can find something that I can use!

Many (many) long years ago, the MERP boxed set came with a ton of them. You'd be lucky of course to get ahold of one now.

Might be possible to find a PDF floating around. Color laser printer FTW.

For years I've used paper/cardstock counters for my various games. Initially I did this with V&V, but it was easy to do it with my other games using a 1" die and old CCG cards, too.

Here's a picture as an example of one of my V&V games:

And this next one has some familiar characters in it:

And finally, here's an example from my Star Wars game:

One thing I've actually appreciated about TOR is that it hasn't taken as much prep work. We've sometimes used minis with the various stance/travel role sheets, but that's about it. Don't get me wrong. I (obviously) love to have that visual element, but it's nice to not have to worry about it, too.
Tale of Years for a second, lower-level group (in the same campaign).

And then there are these, if you're feeling whimsical.
