Monster Attack Doubt

Post by jmartinclass » Sat Jan 10, 2015 4:16 pm

Hi, I was reading the revised rules and a doubt came up.

"attribute Level
This replaces the three Attributes used to describe player- heroes. It is added as a bonus every time that a creature attempts a roll using a characteristic indicated as favoured (without the need of spending any point to invoke the bonus) and as a Damage bonus to be applied when the creature hits an opponent in combat rolling a great success or twice in the case of an extraordinary success."

Does that mean if a Great Orc is attacking with a Heavy scimitar I'll throw 3 success dice + 7 (attribute level)?

Thanks

Yes. And on a great success he (she, it...) does 7 extra damage.

And they are a pain to kill because you must get a wound and they get 4d + 7 protection. Good idea to make the Weary as fast as possible.

Terrifying, to be frank. The Great Orc is in the same league with the toughest trolls.
A campaign-ending boss, imo.

In Hermes Serpents campaign we killed a Great Orc with 5 brand new characters. Then a couple FPs later we killed a snow troll, albeit with 2 or 3 of us unconscious, and a couple wounds.

Tough, yes, but doable with cooperative dice and some Hope.
