My mind won't let 'aspected' go as Tolkienish. The best I can do is ill-aspected but I don't know what the positive one should be and I do think it's clunkier than 'keep best'/'keep worst'.

Guys, somewhere in here is an anecdote about wheels and re-inventions.

But that aside...I challenge all of you to avoid trying to make TOR....compile*.

*When my real life group started playing TOR and we got the basics down, one of my friends, who happens to be a developer remarked "A lot of flavor to this game, but I don't think it would compile."

"Thanks goodness!" I said, laughing, and handed him the tobacco jar.

As most of you know, I do a bit of RPG design, usually just for fun. I also do programming, mostly for fun, but sometimes my real world employment and my programming hobby have intersected. When that was the case, I found it nearly impossible to write RPG rules, they were always too vague, too imprecise.

I had to give up on that project just because I couldn't shift mindsets well enough...

How about heartened and hindered? Been trying to find words with the right sound and most of them are derived from Old English and/or Norse quite unsurprisingly.

Or encouraged and hindered? I'm literally reading LotR and looking for any examples of appropriate words. Unfortunately a Latin-derived word but still a good one.

Personally I'm fine with Advantage, but Stormcrow had some very strong objections so I was looking for another option.

Well, it opens up the possibility of C7 being able to sell us special dice to use with Advantage/Disadvantage...

Definitely inanimate and passive from a player-hero point of view. Even better, I like the connection to "another person actively contributing" influencing the outcome!

Maybe a little like that "other will ... using [Frodo's] small voice" at the Council of Elrond, no...? :o

Time for a cup of team and a buttery scone to warm my heart!
